Hi Jacy,
Just read your lovely post on Motherlode.
I am fascinated by your experience as I too am an aspiring writer who is also a Jewish mom whose family would be affected by my choice of writing topic (to put it diplomatically)
My burning question is, why did you choose to publish without a pseudonym? I'm very interested in your thought process, whether you considered it and why you decided against it given your concerns.

Aya, Thanks so much for your lovely compliment.

Actually, Jacy Sutton is my pseudonym! I really went back and forth and wanted to protect my kids' privacy, but in the end, I think everyone I know personally now knows my pen name.Along with my Women's Fiction novel, I'm also writing some children's books, so in the end I think it works well to have a pen name for this book and then to publish those books under my own name.

Best of luck to you on your work. Do you ever read Annie Lamott, she has a lot of wonderful things to say about writing on the people in your life.

I loved your NYT post. One of the reasons I blog under a pseudonym is because I'm too big a coward to write honestly under my own name. I love the fact that you faced this fear and got past it. Someday I hope to do the same.

Thank you so much, Veronica! As I told Aya, this is my Pen Name. The funny thing is now most everyone I know knows about the book and my pseudonym.
